Overview

On July 16, 2026, Databricks announced it was raising money at a $188 billion valuation. The same day, per our tracking data at APMList, it posted two early-career product roles: an Associate Product Manager new grad position paying $133,000 to 150,000 a year, and a Product Management Intern role paying $54 to 56 an hour. Both are still open as of late July 2026.

That timing is the whole story. Databricks' last comparable new grad PM window, back in fall 2022, lasted about four weeks. If you are graduating in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 and want to do product at one of the biggest private companies in tech, the correct move is to apply this week, not to read five more guides first.

If you are reading this after the window closes, the pattern still holds: Databricks posts early-career PM roles in summer and fall waves, and past windows ran weeks, not months. The APM new grad roles list refreshes hourly and shows whether the role is still live.

The two open roles

Databricks posted both roles on July 16, 2026, and both hire into San Francisco, Mountain View, or Bellevue.

  • Associate Product Manager, New Grad (2027 start). For students graduating in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 with a bachelor's or master's in computer science or a related engineering field. The official posting lists a base of $133,000 to 150,000, plus a possible annual bonus and equity. Each APM gets a dedicated manager and mentor and joins the 2027 APM cohort.
  • Product Management Intern (Summer 2027). A 12-week paid summer internship for students graduating in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028, also in a CS or related engineering program. The intern posting pays $54 to 56 an hour in the SF Bay Area and $51.50 to 53.50 in Bellevue.

Note what both eligibility bars have in common: an engineering degree is required, not preferred. Google's APM program and most others take strong non-technical candidates. Databricks does not, and that single line in the posting filters out half the usual APM applicant pool. If you have the degree, your odds here are structurally better than at programs with looser requirements.

Databricks also hires early-career PMs in Europe. Our tracking caught a Product Manager New Grad role for Amsterdam and Berlin that closed April 29, 2026, and Databricks' careers site lists Berlin and Amsterdam intern postings for the 2026 cycle. If you are in Europe, watch for those in the same summer waves.

What our tracking data says about timing

We track every Databricks early-career product posting hourly at APMList. Here is the full history:

Posting Opened Closed Posted pay
Product Manager Intern (2023 start), SF Aug 31, 2022 Oct 20, 2022 not listed
Associate IT Product Manager New Grad, MV Sep 30, 2022 Oct 31, 2022 not listed
IT Product Manager Intern, MV Jan 22, 2025 Mar 24, 2025 $44 to 48/hr
PM New Grad, Amsterdam/Berlin not captured Apr 29, 2026 not listed
APM New Grad (2027 start) Jul 16, 2026 open now $133,000 to 150,000
PM Intern (Summer 2027) Jul 16, 2026 open now $54 to 56/hr

Two things jump out of that table.

First, Databricks posts in summer and fall waves, and the windows are short. The 2022 postings ran roughly four to seven weeks. That is longer than Salesforce's two-hour windows, but it is not long, and a posting that went up July 16 could reasonably close by early September.

Second, this cycle opened earlier than past ones. The 2022 wave started at the end of August. The 2026 wave started in mid-July, six weeks sooner. Companies move their windows earlier when they expect more applicants, and a company that just announced a $188 billion valuation expects more applicants.

Key takeaway: the posting is open as of late July 2026 and history says it will not stay open past early fall. Apply now, then keep preparing while your application is in the queue. The order matters.

What a Databricks APM actually works on

Databricks sells a data and AI platform, the "lakehouse," that companies use to store, process, and build AI on their data. It is enterprise software in the most literal sense: more than 20,000 organizations, including 70% of the Fortune 500, run on it. In February 2026 the company reported passing a $5.4 billion revenue run-rate, growing over 65% year over year.

The APM posting lists the teams hiring: AI Platform, Genie, Machine Learning, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, ETL, Streaming, and EDA. Genie is the AI product that turns business data into answers, and it is one of the three products the new funding explicitly backs. An APM landing there is working on the thing the company just raised billions to accelerate.

The posting describes the job as owning a project end to end: understand the customer problem, prototype with customers and engineers before the full team commits, then design, build, launch, and iterate. That is a real ownership loop, not a rotation through shadowing.

Here is the part most candidates underweight. Your users at Databricks are data engineers and ML engineers, and your product decisions are about query engines, catalogs, and pipelines. This is why the posting requires SQL or Python experience and, notably, hands-on experience with AI tools for both personal productivity and development work. Databricks is screening for people who already build with AI, because its customers do.

Who gets hired, from the hiring side

The posting's requirements read like a checklist, so here is the translation from someone who has screened PM candidates.

The degree line is a hard filter. CS or related engineering, bachelor's or master's, graduating Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 for the APM role. Recruiters at this volume do not make exceptions in the first pass. If you match, say so plainly at the top of your resume: degree, major, graduation date.

SQL and Python need evidence, not adjectives. A project where you queried real data and shipped something beats "proficient in SQL" on a skills line. Databricks PMs make data-driven calls about data products; show one decision you made with data.

The AI tools requirement is new and most resumes ignore it. The posting asks for experience using AI tooling in development projects. If you built anything with an LLM API, or use AI tools in a documented workflow, put it on the resume in concrete terms. In this cycle, that line is a differentiator because most applicants have not updated their materials to include it.

Communication is tested from the first email. The posting asks for people who can make complex topics simple for engineers, customers, and field teams. Every written thing you submit is a sample. Cut your resume bullets until each one states an action and a result in plain words.

A resume built for a 2024-era APM application will miss half of this. Rebuild it against the actual posting text with Simplify's resume builder, which checks your resume against a specific job description, and do it before you apply rather than after a rejection.

What it pays

From the postings themselves, tracked by APMList:

Track Posted pay
APM new grad $133,000 to 150,000 base
PM intern $54 to 56/hr (SF Bay), $51.50 to 53.50 (Bellevue)

The new grad base sits between Salesforce's recent APM postings ($132,000 to 159,000) and the intern rate is within a dollar of Salesforce's ($55 to 59). The difference is equity. Databricks is private, and its valuation went from $134 billion in February 2026 to a $188 billion term sheet in July, per TechCrunch. Pre-IPO equity at a company growing 65% a year is the upside case; the risk is that private equity is illiquid until an exit. Both halves of that sentence are true, and you should weigh them, not just the first one.

The bonus and equity come on top of base per the posting, so the real first-year number is higher than $150,000 for strong offers.

Do this next

The window is open now. Work the list in order.

  1. Apply today. The APM posting is live as of this writing. Simplify Copilot autofills the application in minutes, which turns "I'll do it this weekend" into done before lunch. With a window that history says lasts weeks, applying on day 15 instead of day 40 is the cheapest edge available.
  2. Fix the resume for this posting specifically. Degree and graduation date up top, one SQL or Python project with a shipped result, one line on how you use AI tools to build. Ten focused edits beat a rewrite.
  3. Keep the rest of the field warm. Databricks is one application, not a strategy. The APM internships list and Simplify's APM tracker both refresh hourly, and our overview of every APM program for the 2027 cycle maps when each one opens.

Do this next: the posting opened July 16, 2026 and the last comparable window lasted about a month. If you are eligible, submit this week with Simplify Copilot, then spend the wait building the SQL project and the AI tooling story your interview will need.
