Visa's APM program for 2027 took applications for one week, and that week is over. Visa's posting for its Associate Product Manager (APM), New College Graduate Rotational Program said it would accept applications "from 9/17/2026-9/24/2026," and our tracking stopped seeing it on September 24. If you missed it, you may still get a shot before next fall: last cycle, Visa reopened the program in February for the same class.
Interest looks higher, too. The number of people who applied through Simplify in the first week rose about 48% from last year, while applications across all of Simplify rose only about 3% in the same weeks.
| Question | Answer, from Visa's 2027 posting |
|---|---|
| What is it? | A two-year program for new grads, with four six-month rotations |
| Where? | Austin, or the Bay Area (Foster City or San Francisco), hybrid |
| What does it pay? | $104,000 in Austin, $116,480 in the Bay Area, possibly plus bonus and equity |
| Who can apply? | Bachelor's or master's grads from May 2026 through August 2027, with under six months of relevant work experience |
| When does it start? | August or September 2027, with "no early or late start dates" |

Visa's careers site no longer lists the job, but you can still read the full text Simplify captured or see the posting on APMList.
What to do now, depending on when you graduate
If you applied in September
Leland's guide to APM programs says Visa usually extends offers from late fall into early winter. Use the wait to prepare with our APM interview guide, and keep Visa next to your other applications in Simplify's free Job Tracker so nothing slips.
Visa does not publish its interview steps, and we could not verify any public account of them. Be wary of anyone who claims to know the exact rounds.
If you graduate by August 2027 and missed the window
Watch for a second round. Last cycle, Visa posted the program again on February 17, 2026, in Austin and Foster City, for the same class it had recruited the September before. It also came back on December 21, 2023, for the class starting in August 2024.
That is two data points, so Visa may not do it again. Check anyway from December through February, using the live APM new grad roles list, which refreshes hourly, and the Talent Community sign-up on Visa's early careers page.
Use the months in between to find a referral; Simplify's Visa page shows ways to get one.
And apply to programs that are still open. Disney's APM program was still taking applications on October 5. Our guide to when every APM program opens covers the rest of the season, and Simplify's Associate Product Manager list tracks the live postings.
If you graduate between December 2027 and August 2028
The summer 2027 APM internship is the one for you, and it closed on the same September 24 deadline. Last cycle, though, Visa posted its APM internships in March, so a spring posting is possible. Check the APM internships list through the spring; it refreshes hourly.
For the full-time program, the last four fall postings went up between August 31 and September 17. Have your resume and answers ready by late August 2027.
When Visa posts, and when it comes back
Our tracking has caught Visa's APM postings every year since 2022. The fall window keeps getting shorter, and Visa often comes back months later for the same class.
| Class starts | Postings, by the date our tracking first saw them | How long we saw them |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 | Feb 23, Feb 27, and Apr 29, 2022 | A day to a month |
| August 2023 | Sep 9, 2022, then Nov 3, 2022 | About 8 weeks, then 1 week |
| August 2024 | Aug 31, Sep 12, and Dec 21, 2023 | 2 to 3 weeks each |
| Fall 2025 | Sep 9, 2024 | About 2.5 weeks |
| Fall 2026 | Sep 9 and Sep 12, 2025, then Feb 17, 2026 | Hours, 2 days, then 1 week |
| Fall 2027 | Sep 17, 2026 | 1 week, printed in the post |
The fall window went from about eight weeks in 2022 to about one week now. Last September, our tracking caught Visa's first requisition at 11:34 a.m. Pacific on September 9, and applications through Simplify stopped about seven hours later.
This year Visa printed the deadline instead. Our tracking caught the Austin posting at 6 p.m. Pacific on September 16, the evening before the window it printed, and the first application through Simplify came in that same evening.
Last February's second round was just as short: about a week, in Austin and Foster City. Three weeks later, on March 9, Visa posted APM internships for summer 2026 in San Francisco and Austin, and those also lasted about a week.
Key takeaway: Visa's fall window has shrunk from weeks to days, but twice in the last three cycles Visa came back months later for the same class. Be ready to apply by late August, and if you miss the fall, check every week from December through February.
More people applied this year, well beyond Simplify's own growth
As of October 5, 2026, at least 162 people had applied through Simplify to Visa's two full-time postings for 2027, and at least 126 to its two internships. These are floors. They only count people who applied through Simplify, a separate job-application tool, so the real totals are higher.
To compare fairly, we counted only each cycle's first seven days, since neither year's applications ran much longer than that.
| Sep 2025 | Sep 2026 | Change | |
|---|---|---|---|
| People who applied to Visa's APM through Simplify, first 7 days | 97 | 144 | Up 48% |
| Applications to any job through Simplify, same week | 785,454 | 807,531 | Up 3% |
About half again as many people applied this year, while overall application volume on Simplify barely moved. Adjusted for that 3% rise, interest in Visa's program grew about 44%.
Some of the jump comes from how the two cycles differed. Last year's first requisition stopped taking applications through Simplify after about seven hours, which held last year's count down. And this year Visa hired in Austin as well as the Bay Area, which brings in people who would never apply to a Bay Area job.
Visa also moved its applications from SmartRecruiters to Workday between the two cycles, and that can change how many applications Simplify sees. So treat the size of the jump as rough; the direction is the useful part.
Austin was not the less crowded option, either: its posting drew about as many first-week applicants as the Bay Area one. Visa does not say how many people it hires in each city, so these numbers measure demand. They say nothing about your odds.
Who can apply, and what "less than 6 months" means
You need a bachelor's or master's degree finished between May 2026 and August 2027, less than six months of relevant work experience, and the ability to start in August or September 2027, with "no early or late start dates to ensure a common onboarding experience."
You can apply after you graduate, and plenty of people do. Of the people who applied through Simplify, half are class of 2027 and 41% are class of 2026, most of whom had already finished school when they applied.
Watch the experience cap. Visa's 2023 and 2024 postings allowed less than two years of relevant experience, and in September 2025 that dropped to less than six months. If you took a full-time job after graduating, count your months honestly and ask the recruiter how Visa counts it.
The posting prefers degrees in product management, computer science, engineering, data science, math, or statistics, "or equivalent practical experience in conjunction with a less technical BA/BS." Among Simplify applicants, 61% study computer science, engineering, or data science, and 18% study business or economics.
If you are in the second group, put one of the posting's own skills near the top of your resume: "programming, data analysis, business-case development, financial modeling, pricing, or product design." Simplify's Resume Builder checks your resume against a posting's wording before you send it.
Business majors have two better fits at Visa. The internship's basic qualifications name business administration, management information systems, operations management, and communications. And Visa opened its Leadership Associate Program the same week: two years, four rotations, Product Management among the rotation areas, and "All majors are welcome to apply," at $95,680 in the Bay Area.
Visa does not sponsor work visas for this program
The 2027 posting is blunt: "Permanent Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment for this position. Visa will not sponsor applicants for work visas in connection with this position. Future sponsorship will not be considered." The internship postings say the same about sponsorship.
This is not a new policy. The same lines appear in Visa's APM postings from 2022, the earliest year we tracked.
If you are on an F-1 visa and planning to use OPT, that authorization is temporary, so the posting's wording rules you out. Spend the effort on programs that say otherwise. Our Uber APM guide notes that Uber's most recent posting said the company has historically provided H-1B sponsorship, and our Meta RPM guide covers how international students apply through OPT.
Austin or the Bay Area: the lower salary goes further
| Track | Austin | Bay Area (Foster City) |
|---|---|---|
| Full-time APM | $104,000 | $116,480 |
| APM intern | $39 to $46 an hour | $46 to $55 an hour |
The Bay Area job pays $12,480 more, about 12%. Prices there are higher by more than that. In the Bureau of Economic Analysis's 2024 regional price parities, the San Francisco metro scores 115.6 and Austin 98.1, against a national average of 100.
By that measure, $104,000 in Austin buys about what $122,600 buys around San Francisco, which is more than Visa's Bay Area salary.
Both postings call the job hybrid, with office days set by your hiring manager and 5 to 10% travel. Last February's postings said three days a week in the office. In the Bay Area, rotations "may be placed in our Foster City or San Francisco offices."
The postings don't say whether you can apply to both cities. If you would take either, ask a recruiter before you split your effort.
What the job is: four rotations across Visa's growth engines
You complete "four distinct six-month rotational assignments during the two-year program," on teams across "Product, Value Added Services and Commercial and Money Movement functions." That is twice as many teams as Google's APM program and one more than Meta's RPM; our Google APM vs Meta RPM vs LinkedIn APM comparison lays out those structures.
Those functions are where Visa says its growth is. On its July 2026 earnings call, Visa reported value-added services revenue up 34% in constant dollars, to $3.8 billion, and commercial and money movement revenue up 17%.
So expect plenty of commercial work. The duties start with "product strategy, go-to-market plans, and clear product documents, such as concept briefs, business cases, and product requirements." If you want payments product work in a different shape, Coinbase's APM program is the other fintech track we cover.
Take the AI line seriously, too. The posting says "All Visa roles require digital fluency, including the ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools." On the same July call, CEO Ryan McInerney said Visa is reforming product teams "that used to be ten or more into smaller and more nimble agentic squads of two to four," and that teams using its agent tools cut requirement definition from 30 days to 5.
Bring one real example of using AI tools to do product work faster, such as a requirements doc you drafted with one and then checked against data.
The same day as that call, CNBC reported that Visa would cut about 2,600 jobs, roughly 7% of its workforce, mostly in technology and product. Seven weeks later Visa still opened the APM program in two cities, so the layoffs did not stop it.

| Locations | Bay Area | Austin, Foster City | Austin, Foster City |

The 2027 text also adds a training section ("immersive development intensives," workshops, case studies, simulations) and time with "program alumni." It lists pay too, but our captures of the earlier postings skipped the section where pay appears, so we can't say whether that part is new.
