Does Mastercard Have an APM Program? Yes, but It Isn't Called That

Yes, Mastercard has an APM program, but it never uses the name. It hires new grad product managers as Associate Product Specialists through its Launch Program, so a job search for "product manager" can walk right past it.
The 2027 US posting pays a flat $83,000 in O'Fallon, Missouri, or $95,000 in Arlington, Virginia. Simplify first saw it on September 22, 2026, and Mastercard's careers site gave it an end date of October 6, two weeks later.

| What's the title? | Associate Product Specialist, Product Management, Launch Program 2027, United States |
| Where? | O'Fallon, Missouri (St. Louis area) or Arlington, Virginia. Hybrid, about three office days a week |

Why the title hides the job, and how to find it anyway
On October 5, 2026, we searched Mastercard's own campus job site. "Product manager" returned 18 jobs, none of them the US product program, and "APM" returned nothing. "Associate product specialist" found it right away.
Don't let "specialist" fool you into thinking this is support work. The posting describes product management: business cases for new products, go-to-market plans, and roadmap calls, the same job our guide on what an associate product manager does describes.
Mastercard doesn't keep the name steady, either. In our tracking, its entry-level product postings have used at least three titles:
- Associate Product Specialist, for the 2027 US Launch class and most 2027 Launch postings abroad
- Product Manager, Technical I, for a US Launch posting in November 2024 and a Toronto one in October 2025
- Associate Product Manager, for a one-off technical role in Pune, India, in 2025 that sat outside Launch
The November 2024 posting used the first two titles for the same job. So search for the program name: on Mastercard's campus job site, type "Launch Program," and add "Associate Product Specialist" to any job alert you set.
The title matters again after you join. Two years from now, a recruiter skimming for "product manager" may skip right past "Associate Product Specialist," so use the full title Mastercard gives you, which already includes "Product Management." Indeed's resume guide says the same about unusual titles: keep your real title so employers can verify it, and add a clarifying one in parentheses if you need to.
The words PM recruiters actually search for are in our PM resume keywords guide.
What the job is: product work for business customers
Per Mastercard's Launch page, you join as a permanent, full-time employee. You meet your manager, an onboarding buddy, and your local cohort, then go through a virtual bootcamp with senior leaders. After that comes 18 months in a hands-on role, with "Skill Boost" sessions each quarter.
Mastercard's FAQ says the 18 months covers the training, and your job continues after it. At the end, you and your manager choose between the same role, a promotion, or a move inside Mastercard, and promotion is not automatic.
Don't count on rotations. The FAQ says some Launch roles rotate across teams while others go deep in one area, and the US product posting mentions none. By comparison, Coinbase's APM program, at another fintech, rotates you through two teams.
The posting lists three projects that past Associate Product Specialist "Launchers" worked on:
- A competitive analysis of a business intelligence product, which helped the team decide which features to speed up
- A pricing model for bundled deals on Mastercard's identity products, which became a new bundle sold through resellers
- A roadmap for adding a third-party analytics tool to an app, built after talking with stakeholders and customers
These are pricing, competitor, and analytics problems for business customers, and none of them is a consumer app feature. Expect your interview cases to lean the same way.
Mastercard says Launch takes in 850+ participants a year across more than 50 countries, in areas like technology, consulting, product, and sales. It doesn't say how many of them work in product, or how many are in the US.
Who can apply, and why 2026 grads are out
Mastercard's Launch page says it wants "recent or upcoming" graduates, typically within 12 months of graduation when the program starts. The US product posting is stricter. It asks for someone "currently enrolled" in a bachelor's or accelerated master's program, graduating between December 2026 and June 2027.
So if you graduated in May 2026, this posting rules you out, even though the program page sounds like it wouldn't. Your Mastercard route is the one-off Associate Product Specialist jobs posted outside Launch. One, on an analytics team in O'Fallon, asked for a bachelor's degree and Excel, listed $77,000 to $128,000, and stayed up for six days in September 2026, per our tracking.
If you're in a standard two-year master's program, ask a recruiter whether "accelerated" covers you before you apply.
Sponsorship is a hard no. The posting says you must be able to work in the US "now as well as in the future" without sponsorship, and it names F-1 students on CPT or OPT as ineligible. Mastercard's FAQ says the same of every US internship and Launch role.
Two more details trip people up:
- You upload an unofficial transcript with the application, so have the PDF ready before you start.
- Mastercard's FAQ says you don't need a finance, payments, or tech background, yet the posting asks for "foundational knowledge of AI, data, APIs, and modern technology platforms." Put one concrete example on your resume, like a SQL project or an app you built on someone else's API.
What it pays next to other APM programs
Mastercard posts a single figure for each city, $83,000 in O'Fallon and $95,000 in Arlington, with a possible annual bonus on top. Here it is next to the other new grad APM postings our tracking captured this cycle, using each company's posted base pay.
| Program | Location | Posted base pay |
|---|---|---|
| Mastercard Launch, Associate Product Specialist | O'Fallon, MO / Arlington, VA | $83,000 / $95,000 |
| Disney APM Program | Los Angeles (New York not posted) | $97,500 to $130,700 |
| Visa APM | Austin / Bay Area | $104,000 / $116,480 |
| Robinhood APM, New Grad | New York | $130,000 |
| Roblox APM | San Mateo | $143,000 |
| Salesforce APM | SF and NYC areas ($132,000 to $146,000 elsewhere) | $159,000 |
Mastercard pays the least on this list. Even Arlington's $95,000 sits below the floor of Disney's new APM program, and its closest payments peer, Visa's APM program, starts at $104,000 in Austin.
Lower prices in St. Louis close part of that gap. The Bureau of Economic Analysis put 2024 prices in the St. Louis metro at 95.1% of the national average, against 115.6% in the San Francisco area (BEA regional price parities).
By that measure, $83,000 in O'Fallon buys about what $101,000 buys around San Francisco, which is still far below Roblox's $143,000.
The posting also lists 25 vacation days plus 5 personal days, 16 weeks of parental leave, and a 401(k) match. The FAQ says a signing bonus or relocation help is possible "where applicable," so ask. For how base, bonus, and equity add up across programs, see the APM salary guide.
Two weeks, with the end date on the page
Mastercard spreads its US Launch postings out. In our tracking, the 2027 ones went up between August 13 and September 30, 2026, and product came late in the wave.
| First seen | US Launch Program 2027 role | Posted base pay |
|---|---|---|
| Aug 13, 2026 | Associate Consultant, Bentonville, AR | $95,000 |
| Aug 24, 2026 | Software Engineer | $100,000 to $115,000 |
| Aug 28, 2026 | Program Management Analyst I, St. Louis area | $72,000 |
| Sep 22, 2026 | Associate Product Specialist, Product Management | $83,000 / $95,000 |
| Sep 29, 2026 | Project Manager I, Purchase, NY | $83,000 |
| Sep 30, 2026 | Data Engineer I, Arlington, VA | $115,000 |
Mastercard also tells you when each posting ends. Its Workday pages show an "End Date," and the product posting's was October 6, 2026. On the evening of October 5, the page read "3 hours left to apply."
Other Launch postings this fall carry end dates about two weeks out: one posted September 28 lists October 11, and one posted September 29 lists October 12. A few list no end date at all.
The same job appears on both of Mastercard's career sites, corporate and campus. Both 2027 product listings are one requisition, R-287623, so apply once, and Mastercard's FAQ recommends picking one role and location instead of applying across Launch.
The previous US product posting in our tracking went up on November 9, 2024, for the 2025 class. It was titled Product Manager, Technical I, was based in Miami, and required Spanish and English, and our tracking stopped seeing it on November 20.
We didn't capture the 2026 class's US posting, because we only started tracking Mastercard's campus job site in March 2026. Treat these dates as a rough pattern, not a promise.
Key takeaway: Mastercard's product posting lives about two weeks, and the end date is printed on it. Start checking in mid-August, when the first US Launch roles appear, and apply within days of the product posting going up.
The live APM new grad roles list refreshes hourly. Save Mastercard's posting and your other targets in Simplify's free Job Tracker so every date sits in one place, and plan the rest of your fall around when every APM program opens.
How Mastercard picks its Launch class
Mastercard's FAQ lays out the steps:
- An online application
- An assessment or video interview
- Two to three live interviews with team members and hiring managers
- A decision, usually four to eight weeks after you apply
The November 2024 product posting said more about step two: a "digital interview" of pre-recorded questions, followed by final rounds held virtually. Practice answering on camera, alone and against a timer, because talking to a screen that never reacts is harder than a normal conversation.
We can't tell you your odds. Mastercard doesn't publish how many Associate Product Specialists it hires, and our Simplify data on its postings is too thin to say how many people applied.
The FAQ says you may get technical or case questions, depending on the role. Practice on the kind of work the posting describes:
- Mastercard wants to sell two of its data products as a bundle through resellers. How do you price it, and how do you know it worked?
- Write a one-page competitive analysis of a business intelligence tool, ending with the three features you would build first.
- A bank wants analytics inside an app it licenses from you. What do you ask before you write the roadmap?
- Explain an API to a bank executive in two minutes, then say how AI could make one Mastercard product more useful to that bank.
Answer each one out loud, with a number in it. The rounds most APM programs run are laid out in our APM interview process guide, and if you don't know anyone at Mastercard, Simplify's Mastercard page shows ways to get referred.
If you graduate in 2028, start with the internship
Mastercard's intern postings call the role "Associate Product Specialist Intern" in the body, so add that to your searches too. Our tracking captured three US product internships for summer 2027:
| First seen | Internship | Location | Pay | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sep 3, 2026 | Product Management, Technical Intern | St. Louis area | $25 to $30/hr | Our tracking stopped seeing it Sep 29 |
| Sep 21, 2026 | Product Management Intern | Purchase, NY, or Arlington, VA | $34/hr | Our tracking stopped seeing it Sep 28 |
| Sep 22, 2026 | Product Management Intern | St. Louis area | $30/hr | Mastercard listed an end date of Oct 6 |
All three want students graduating between December 2027 and June 2028. None of them sponsor visas, each asks for a transcript, and they go fast: our tracking lost the Purchase and Arlington posting after about a week.
The postings say "many of our interns" go on to full-time roles, early career programs, or future internships at Mastercard, though Mastercard doesn't publish a conversion rate. Watch for next year's postings on the APM internships list, which refreshes hourly.
Outside the US, Launch runs on local calendars
Launch runs in more than 50 countries, and Mastercard's FAQ says sponsorship "varies by country and role," so read each posting. These are the 2027-class product postings our tracking captured abroad:
| City | First seen | Start date in the posting |
|---|---|---|
| Sydney (St. Leonards) | Jun 10, 2026 | Feb 1, 2027 |
| Singapore | Sep 4, 2026 | Jul 19, 2027 |
| Rome | Sep 27, 2026 | Sep 1, 2027 |
| Lisbon | Sep 28, 2026 | Sep 1, 2027 |
| Cairo | Sep 27, 2026 | Not stated |
| Dubai (UAE nationals preferred) | Oct 5, 2026 | Mar 1 or Sep 1, 2027 |
Last cycle, London, Dublin, and Dubai posted their product roles in January and February, so if you're aiming at one of those cities, keep watching into the new year. In India, Mastercard has used the APM title itself, though its 2025 Pune role sat outside Launch.
Questions people ask about Mastercard's APM program
Does Mastercard have an APM program?
Yes. It's the product track of the Launch Program, titled Associate Product Specialist, Product Management, and it runs 18 months as a permanent job from day one.
Is Mastercard's Launch Program remote?
No. Mastercard says Launch roles are hybrid, with an average of three days a week in the office, so you need to live within commuting distance.
Does Mastercard sponsor visas for Launch in the US?
No. The posting and the FAQ both rule out sponsorship for US Launch roles, including for F-1 students on CPT or OPT.
What happens after the 18 months?
You keep working at Mastercard, since Launch isn't a fixed-term role. Promotion at the 18-month mark isn't automatic.
When will the next US posting open?
Nobody can promise a date. This year's product posting went up on September 22, after the first US Launch roles appeared in mid-August, so start checking in August.
Do this next: if you graduate between December 2026 and June 2027 and the posting is still up, apply through Mastercard's posting on Simplify today. The application runs through Workday, so Simplify Copilot fills in most of the form, and you upload the transcript yourself. If it has closed, apply to the live APM new grad roles that are open now, follow Simplify's Associate Product Manager list, and mark mid-August for Mastercard.
